Also, if you just want to contact me to tell me what a tool I am (or how awesome I am) you may do that, too.

I found this site shortly after Jerry died, and I thought it was really disgusting and disrespectful to such a great man as Jerry Falwell to mock him as you do. But that was before Jesus spoke to me, and showed me a Revelation.

This happened to me about six months ago. I haven't spoken of this to anyone until now, for fear of being called crazy. But I guess it's time that I shared my Revelation with all.

I know the difference between dreams and reality, and between imagination and reality, as all good Christians do. I can assure all of you that this was no dream. Yes, I was sleeping - this happened on October 12th, 2007 (how could I ever forget the date), but I heard a loud banging noise which roused me out of my sleep. I awoke with a start, and at the foot of my bed stood Jesus Christ. I was scared to death, as you might imagine.

Jesus didn't speak. He motioned for me to follow him. And all of a sudden I was floating right behind Jesus. I floated through the wall of my bedroom. I floated upward and I could clearly see the lights on the streets and houses of my neighborhood. But not for very long. Almost instantly, all became dark. I saw a glow in the darkness, and Jesus beckoned to me to come closer to the glow. I found myself floating closer and closer, until the glow became a harsh, bright light. Jesus stood at the edge of an abyss, and all he said was, "Behold!"

Fearfully, I peaked over the edge of the abyss. And what I saw almost killed me. I believe to this day that it was only the grace of Jesus Christ that saved me. That abyss was Hell! The smell was utterly disgusting. I peered into the horror, as Jesus instructed, and there, below, I saw Jerry Falwell being sodomized by demons with hot pokers. It's almost too horrible to describe. But I will do my best. Jerry was screaming and screaming. There was blood streaming out of his mouth and out of his... ugh, too horrible to describe. I saw other things too - but... I just can't bring myself to describe them. But the bottom line of Jesus's Revelation to me is that Jerry is indeed in Hell, and being tortured eternally. And this frightens me to no end. Jerry's message was one of love and compassion, for those who deserve it. Homos, lesbians, liberals, atheists, and other misfits are not deserving of God's love and compassion, and that should be obvious. But Jerry was none of these things, and yet - he's in Hell.

I have only one possible explanation for this. God... made a mistake. I know that should be impossible, and I hope God doesn't take offense. But we all know that God is very, very, very busy answering prayers and such. He may have just kind of overlooked Jerry. Not that I'm blaming God or anything. God is infallible, of course. I truly love you, God, and I'm sure you know it. But nobody would blame you if you just... you know, overlooked certain things now and then because you are involved with really important things.

So, what can we mere mortals do? Let's lobby to get Jerry out of Hell! Let's put together petitions. Surely God won't ignore petitions signed by His faithful.

Get Jerry out of Hell, and prepare his spot for its rightful owner - Bill Clinton!

John B.

I do believe the horribleness of what Jerry Falwell has done has landed him in hell. Being a pagan, I myself don't believe in Heaven or Hell. But it does exist for those that do believe in it. So Yes, I do believe he is in Hell.

Blessed Be,
Michelle M.

Poor Jerry Falwell. I wonder if he thought his legacy would be a second life of jokes and damnation, fucker sure should of expected it. His church and others like it are killing the individual, unique spirit of the US one indoctrinated child at a time. God damn him for helping the republicans set our American civilization back 2 decades. God damn him for bombasting anyone who didn't accept his zealous fanaticism, and insanity, as their faith. And god damn him for making a scapegoat out of a character on a child's TV show.

For causing so much so much hate in this already hate filled world, especially when the very religion he is supposed to be a warrior of is based on compassion, understanding, and love, he should be doubly damned.

I hope he rots in hell, if there is such a place, and is made to realize the massive injustice he has perpetuated against his religion, his people, and his world.

I went from "Too bad for his family" to "Screw it, we're talking about Jerry F'in Falwell here" in ten seconds flat, when I heard he died. I may not have been born yet (or at least old enough to remember) when he was really active but all I know is that he exploited people's faith to spread hate and that's enough for me to hate him. Now all we need is for that a-hole Pat Robertson to croak and we can do some real healing of American politics.

-Catsimboy

Falwell caused enough pain, judged enough people, and did his level best to misrepresent Christianity so that he could line his own pockets. By his words and his actions he earned far more lampooning than he has so far received, and I imagine that his new digs smell more like rotten eggs than anything else.

-Andrew

Falwell was a tubby menace who deserves no respect for being dead or Christian. His life was dedicated to hate and prejudice, while he masqueraded under his hypocritical Christianity.

Great comic.

-Joshua

Hey--- Loved the panels that I saw. Are you sure it would be Nietzsche beating him, not Sartre? Anyways, I am with you people. People who think God speaks to them seem to always have the Big Guy saying exactly what it is they expect to here. Being that there is no such things as God is just a highly rich amusement on top of the rest of it. Keep them coming,

-Jeff

Well done.

In theory, I agree with the belief that it lessens us as humans to publicly express our pleasure at someone's death.

However, being one of the "hellhound sinners" targeted by haters like Falwell and his ilk for unrelenting discrimination and acts of violence predicated on the brand of ignorance he spewed out of his blowhole on a daily basis, I really, truly am rejoicing in the fact that he dropped dead.

In fact, I am in fervent hope that he has to hold a purple Tinky Winky purse for all eternity while his prodigious ass-fat roasts on the hottest griddle in hell.

This may lessen me as a human, but I can live with that. Unlike Jerry. HA-ha.

Stumbled on the 9th strip before anything else - my reaction: "YES - and wow, this guys got balls."

I hardly ever felt a focused anger at Falwell when he was alive. He was such a miserable ass, but he wasn't a focus for me.

Reading this strip and then reading these comments - it is so clear how terribly dangerous and harmful this guy was. And the others: Dobson; Robertson, et.al - incredibly dangerous -- McCarthy level dangerous.

When the bible is taken as more than just stories, and becomes the source of rules forced on everyone - it forfeits the important messages within it and becomes instead, a tool of totalitarianism.

I must say, you are my hero as far as awesome is concerned. (and drawing Nietzsche Telletubbies, but that's not the point)

-Maggie

I got a kick out of the respondent who wrote the following:

"The joke will be on those who don't accept Christ and they will be the ones in hell. God gives everyone an opportunity to know Christ..... You are not insulting me or Dr. Falwell - you are insulting God himself."

What a lovely, Christian sentiment, actually GLOATING about the chance of others going to hell...but then again, if you're going to blaspheme to such a degree as to actually compare fatso Falwell to God Himself, I guess rejoicing in the eternal damnation of others is small potatoes. This is not only a good indicator of the poison Jerry Falwell spread in his life, but also the kind of person that followed his warped, vile ideology and rejoiced in calling him "pastor" or--hope I can keep my lunch down even typing this--"spiritual father!"

Nancy J. is entitled to her opinion, of course, but the truth is what it is and the number of people--and you can count me proudly among them--that are glad to see this bloated charlatan silenced forever is greater than those wringing their hands in mourning. For over 20 years, Falwell lived to whittle away the separation of church and state and was, in my opinion, not only a bigot and a blaggard, but also an enemy of our Constitution and way of life. Others may continue his work, but he will moulder in the ground, having never seen his twisted vision for America realized and for that I am infinitely grateful! Now if only the good Lord would see fit to sending for Pat Robertson and James Dobson to keep this human cowpie company in Oblivion...

-George O.

Before I offer my opinion, I want to say this: I'm from Lynchburg. Liberty University is literally just down the road from my house. So with that, I want to say this: Hallelujah, praise the lord, the man is DEAD! And hopefully rotting in the deepest, most damned pit in hell! I'm sorry, but the man was not, in my opinion, a "godly" man. He spent more time preaching about what Christianity isn't instead of what it is and being intolerant rather than tolerant. This is the same man who said that "the gays, Jews, abortionists, feminists, etc" caused September 11. I'm sorry, didn't we already establish that it was foreign hijackers that did this? I don't recall them saying that there was a feminist who hijacked that plane. Many people out there are saying: Look how many people he brought to Christianity. What about the people he turned away from Christianity? You never hear about them. You never hear about the people, who through his words, turned away from Christianity in disgust. In my opinion, Jerry Falwell, and his "Falwellianite Army" were just using religion as a way to brainwash people. He's managed to convince an entire faction of people that a character on children's show was homosexual. He preached about how gays were going to burn in hell, just because they were in love with the same sex. I'm sorry, didn't Christianity have a thing called "Judge, lest ye be judged not" and "God loves all his children?" Jerry Falwell is in hell, getting it up the ass from Satan himself. I think your cartoon is refreshing breath of air from all the "Jerry Falwell was a good man" crap they've been feeding us around here and I applaud you. Everyone around here keeps saying how he's going to heaven and he was a good man and I think its great that someone is breaking from the monotony. Falwell's in heaven alright, if heaven is eternal damnation.

-Anonymous [The last thing I want is a crazed faction of Falwellianites beating me down with a wooden cross]

Miserable prick. I hope whoever gets this message passes it on and on and on as this jackass has caused a lot of pain in the name of god over the past 20+ years. I know I will regret saying this but I hope he suffered at the end. I hope there is some judgement on him as he severely judged others. As Christ said, "judge not lest ye be judged, let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Jerry Falwell seemed to sail through this life thinking that this one salient passage from the gospel of Mathew, FROM THE VERY MOUTH OF HIS MESSIAH, did not seem to apply to him. Well fuck him and all his followers.

God bless

-Paul

I just stumbled on your comic. Well done!

(this is where I put noncommittal comments. Also comments that I DO NOT UNDERSTAND)

I don't know. I just know that he's in the same place as Pius XII, President Reagan, Richard Nixon, Josef Stalin, Andrew Jackson, Pol Pot, and all the others whose True Faith, Firm Convictions, and monomaina caused them to bring a whole lot of grief to a whole lot of people in the name of Truth and Justice.

Is that heaven or is that hell? I just don't know.

A very wise man named Simon Illyan once said, "The principal difference between heaven and hell is the company you keep there."

Anyhow, I love the comic. Especially the squirrels.

- Max B.

I don't believe in heaven or hell, so I guess my choice is limbo by default. Or nothingness. Sweet, blissful nothingness.

Also, sorry about all those rambling Cracker Barrel comments. I really am starting to get worried ... maybe rehab would help? Then again, I wouldn't want to risk bumping into Lindsey Lohan or Britney Spears ... *shudder*

I find your work surreally fascinating, and while I'm a bit wary of the culture wars in general - they really, completely miss the point - I think you're on the brink of transcending satire here. Just remember that intolerant bible-thumping rednecks are people, too!

- Clif

*sigh* i don't actually believe in limbo, but i can't honestly say if i believe the man is in heaven or hell. i can't judge whether or not he was or wasn't a Christian, because i don't know the man, but i do know he was a very misguided man as far as his priorities go. Christians are not called to judge; Mr. Falwell spent the, ahem, "majority" of his life doing just that.

i think you've got a pretty misguided view of heaven and hell too, but again, Christians aren't called to judge. you go ahead and lambast Mr. Falwell in your comic here. it's actually kinda funny. i'm glad to see you're actually mindful of the fact that he's got a family and it's a bit irreverent to make a whole comic about an individual just because you don't like him.

*shrugs* no skin of my neck. but on a more serious note, i think you might wanna leave off concerning yourself too much with "theology" and look into the actual concept of "Christianity." i'm a firm believer that most Christians today have Christianity completely wrong, in that they seem to be of the opinion that they can go to a megachurch like Thomas Road Baptist on Sunday, sing their hearts out, and listen to some big fat guy talk about Jesus for an hour, and that's gonna get them into Heaven. i'm pretty sure Jesus was talking about these very people (possibly Mr. Falwell included) when He said that many would call Him "Lord, Lord" and yet wouldn't get into Heaven.

but, purely speculative. pardon me for quoting a vastly outdated Newsboys song, but "We'll know who's right in the end."

-JB

I'm sorry, but I can't even _read_ this comic further than the homepage. I'm writing because I want to try and convey to you the feeling of disgust that your site inspires in my heart, so that maybe you'll rethink your project.

I hate to repeat what so many have said, but taking pot-shots at the dead almost always makes any artist look like a tasteless, immature, uncreative hack. If you're so full of discontent that you need to vent it at something, can't you find a more creative and less spiteful way to do it? Are you that unoriginal?

You're apparently a decent sketch artist with some talent. Why are you wasting your skillz by going along with this sudden fad of sophomoric finger-pointing? Besides the fact that this particular fad is cheap, all fads are short-lived. How popular will your site be when the anti-Falwell fever has gone down?

You can put this message in your 'limbo' section, because (and I'm sure I'm not the first to say it, and I'm sure people will hate to hear it) only God can judge souls. If Mr. Falwell accepted Jesus Christ as his savior, I'd like to think he's in Heaven right now. The truth, though, is that only God knew the man enough to judge. Most of us left it at that after I heard about Falwell's death, but apparently, a vocal minority doesn't want to.

It'd be one thing if you expressed disgust at how Falwell behaved in life. I think anybody can agree that that's fair and expected. But you want to _damn_ him? Does it give you a sense of control to feel as if you and your friends are unanimously damning a man you never met?

I'm trying to understand your point of view on this n_n; I really don't want this to turn into a rant. But it sure _seems_ like you're trying to solidify your own self-esteem by putting him in a theological corner. I think it was David Wong (of Pointless Waste of Time and "John Dies at the End" fame) who said, "I compare myself to the worst so that I don't have to try to be the best."

I'll be praying for you and everyone who takes part in your grave-dancing shenanigans. I hope you all wake up one day and realize what cheap mockery you've dirtied yourselves with. I also hope that you, the artist, turn your talents to something a little more demanding.

Art is resistance. Right on. ;)

Falwell lived according to the principles the world saw fit to teach him. They weren't mine or yours, but there *does* exist a set of circumstances which would lead a dude to believe the things that he believed. Shitty that those circumstances were his, but here we are.

Now that he's dead and unable to hurt anyone, I'd rather move on to ridiculing those people who are still alive and still doing harm.

-Mike L.

ya know, ya could almost see it coming.................

Hi I am not sure about hell or haven but one thing I can promise you is, he would have been one hell of especial kind of stupid who, enjoy fouling his follower whom are stupid enough to follow him. Because, if some one can be convinced to vote for George WC-04 after 4 years of dumb job to be elected again is deserved to be called dumb and dumber. I rest my case.

John

who is flynt?

I found your site through a link. Dude, this is so disrespectful. Jerry Falwell was a great man, an astounding leader and one of the most intelligent men of the last century. Don't speak ill of the dead. If you have some problem with him, or if you have a problem with God, talk to someone about it, but don't comically assault Jerry's memory online like this. It's unfair. The media let him rest peacefully. Please do the same.

- Stephen S.

I hope Falwell to Heaven. But, here's the kicker. It's not the Heaven he thinks it is. Maybe it's a liberal heaven where all the Pagans, the gays and the lesbians and the feminists and everyone he hates gets in. Because frankly, if there is a God, the odds of us getting right what He/She/It wants are astronomical. We have no proof one way or the other if there is a God and any statements we make about what God wants are at best guesswork. We can't be punished for doing things God doesn't like since we don't actually know God and what God likes, so there's no way we can actually be held accountable for our "sins". We just gave life our best shot and Heavens Gods way of compensating for a world which frankly could use some improvement. So, I think Falwell gets to Heaven, but it?s a meaningless gesture. Everyone is in Heaven. His life was wasted. And therefore his Heaven is also his Hell.

- Paddy H.

Falwell and his cohort of chalartans had an amazingly empowering effect on me. I decided that if they are headed to heaven, I want no parts of it and if the cruel tyrant they worship is God, I turn my back to him. I do hope he goes to heaven- his heaven.

-Bob

I wonder...how many people will make sites mocking guys like Richard Dawkins and talking about how he's burning in hell when he dies? I doubt many. Because most Christians I've known aren't that classless.

I can understand the vitriol that so many people have against Falwell...he clearly said some pretty dumb things that many people disagreed with...but this is just over the top. To create an entire site devoted to mocking a man that recently died, and to go so far as to joke about him being in hell, is beyond tasteless. Whether I think he's in heaven or hell, or if I even think there IS a heaven or hell, is not the point. Have some respect for the dead, and for the people that cared about him.

-Joel S.

Dr. Jerry Falwell was my pastor and my spirtual father.....I think what you have here is in very bad taste. You are judging him and only God can do that. He loved people - all people no matter what - he may have pointed out sin in people's lives ,but he loved everyone no matter who or what they were - If you had known him personally like I did then you would understand what a tremendous person he was. He left a legacy that thousands of men together could not have created. His influence is world-wide through his preaching and teaching. He is not in hell. He is definitely in Heaven.... Whether you agree with me or not is okay....Dr. Falwell taught us to be tolerant of others who don't know truth.....you can deny God, you can mock God, you can choose to not believe.....but guess what? The joke will be on those who don't accept Christ and they will be the ones in hell. God gives everyone an opportunity to know Christ.....
You are not insulting me or Dr. Falwell - you are insulting God himself.
We all have choices - but until you are on the other side of this life - you have the opportunity to accept Jesus as your Saviour....I will pray for you.

-Nancy J.
